Native of West Africa, this plant is a twining vine-like shrub that prefers bright partial shade. White flowers are heart-shaped with protruding red petals and long white stamens. It prefers enriched well-drained slightly acidic soil. Requires very little care. Prune after its bloom cycle. Can be propagated from woody stems or seed. It is not really winter hardy in our area if it frosts or if temperatures are below 32 degree for very long.
